What is AITOP?

Absinthe in the Outer Planes is a blog/meta-narrative repository website that started life as a setting for the Troika! roleplaying game by Daniel Sell and published by the Melsonian Arts Council. Taking inspiration from... as many places as I can find, AITOP is meant to be a collection of my abandoned creations, incomplete ideas, and ramblings that I intend to capture into a setting eventually, and anyone is free to use in their fiction, be it roleplaying/storytelling/etc. It's also a place for me to park bits and pieces of scenes and ideas that I have for upcoming games with my friends.

Who am I?

This is what I actually look like in real life.

My name is Mox, and I have been in the TTRPG hobby for 10+ years, with most of those years being a forever GM. I am not the greatest GM/referee in the world, but I really enjoy the craft. GMing and worldbuilding has helped me practice patience, adaptability, and time/people management, which are all skills that I take to my RL job every day. I also play Magic the Gathering quite a bit, recently falling in love with the Pauper format. I don't expect to post a lot of stuff on MtG, but I will share some stuff on the bits that I find useful for TTRPGs here and there.

What is each section of the website about?

As of right now (Feb. 4, 2025), the AITOP site is under construction. Currently, the website includes the following sections, soon to be implemented:

• About: That's this place! This is where you go if you're curious for an overview of the site and what it's made for.


• Systems: Name subject to change. This is where I plan to post the bits of RPG/storytelling systems I've developed over the years, with anyone freely able to download and use them.


• Setting Bits: Name subject to change. This is where I plan to post the bits of worldbuilding I've done for my Troika!, Dungeons and Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, and other roleplaying systems I've run. This includes NPCs, locations, setting guidelines should you ever wish to adopt any of these materials into your own game or writing, and downloads for you to keep any of these for yourself.


• The Shelf: Name subject to change, but I kinda really like it. The Shelf is a running list of bits from the books, magazines, movies, TV shows, games, etc that inspired me to create this project. I intend to update it every week, and should I run out of space, I will always have the list available somewhere to download should you be interested.


• Other: Name probably not gonna change (which means it'll be the one I change first). This is the main "blog" area, where I talk about hobby stuff, life stuff, and whatever else I can think of that could contribute to the AITOP project.
